China Blocked Twitter and Loads More
Apparently as of today Chinese authorities have blocked lots of major sites on the web. Here is a list that I have seen so far.
Why? Well it is believe to be to have been done to quite down the effects of online chat and social bookmarking of the 20th anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Massacre. Has it worked? Probably not, because it gets people (like me) blogging about it.
So if your in China, and want access to some of these sites be sure to check out our proxy directory and choose a country like US and use a proxy.
Thanks to Mashable for this information.

July 14th, 2009 at 5:58 pmIt is why proxies are so important to free speech. In Iran at the moment many social network sites are being blocked, and also BBC Persia.
These countries will attempt to block sites but we can always allow routes out through impromptu proxies which can be set up quickly and easily.
There are also PC based applications which can bypass filtering to allow people to update facebook and twitter profiles.
Keep writing my friend.
