Choosing A Host For Your Proxy

13th February - Submitted by Josh

Choosing a good host is another vital aspect for a good proxy empire. There are many things that you will need to look out for in the host to be sure you have picked a good one. Listed below are the things you should look out for.

Uptime – Are their servers continually going down?

You need to choose a host that has good uptime, this is how long their servers are online. If their servers are continually going down, you will lose lots of possible returning users. To check for good uptime many companies will say they have 99.99% uptime, but few proxy hosts actually achieve this, I would recommend using this site, www.siteuptime.com for a while if you are a little nervous about a company.

Space – How much space will I need and use?

Well I work on 400 visits is about 1GB of bandwidth, roughly. So if you have one proxy up, that is receiving around 200 visits daily expect to use about 15GB of bandwidth. And for the disk space, there is usually always enough for proxies, as they use very little disk space.

Price – Are they a good value host?

Working out if a host is good value for money is hard, as it depends on many different factors. So I will leave that one for you to decide. However, if you get stuck, just post a comment, and I will check the host out for you.

So please leave a comment, digg and stumble, all of the usual things.
